Composite Materials Development and Processing

•The United States Office of Naval Research is currently funding a project designed to develop polymer composite materials to be used in naval vessel construction. The program is also focused on creating manufacturing methodologies for these materials that will be time- and cost-effective. Exactly what these materials will be is unclear, as a polymer is any material made of countless molecules of different elements. Polymers behave according to their composite molecules. The primary goal of the project is to develop fire-resistant materials with low smoke emission.
